Spektrum Home is Available as a Free-to-Air Channel
AMC Networks International Central & Northern Europe (AMC) is the provider of the television channels AMC, Film+, CBS Reality, Spektrum, Spektrum Home, TV Paprika, Sport1, Sport2, Minimax, and JimJam in the Czech Republic. The Czech Radio and Television Broadcasting Council has recently granted AMC Networks Central Europe a comprehensive 12-year licence to air the Spektrum Home television channel through terrestrial digital television broadcasting effective from 1 February. AMCNI continuously strives to expand the distribution of its channels and to provide better services to viewers through its contractual operators. AMCNI and CRA have signed an agreement which stipulates that, from 1 March 2023, the Spektrum Home television channel will be broadcast via terrestrial digital distribution (DVB-T2) in multiplex 23, whose signal covers 99% of all households in the Czech Republic.
“The Czech market is key for us in the CNE region. It is therefore a strategic step for us to ensure broader distribution for our station to an increasingly higher number of households. In this effort, CRA is an excellent partner, enabling us to take another step and open up a new window in the sphere of lifestyle entertainment television,” said Levente Málnay B., Executive Vice-President/Director of AMCNI.
“We are pleased that digital terrestrial television broadcasting is gaining a new station: Spektrum Home, which has to this point been available only through paid distribution. This confirms the strength and quality of the digital terrestrial TV platform that is available in the Czech Republic to the largest number of households, with all channels being offered to viewers free of charge,” says Miloš Mastník, CEO of CRA.
Spektrum Home is a lifestyle and entertainment station focused on offering a great selection of movies, series, and inspirational and relaxing factual programmes such as DYI, interior design, architecture, real estate, travel, and gardening, supplementing a number of other popular programmes on these topics from the workshops of the largest distributors, such as the BBC, Fremantle, and All3Media. A gradual expansion of the programme composition is planned to make it more diverse, with the addition of new genres, including entertaining content for women and popular programmes such as Dream House and Monty Don.
In addition to the households to which the channel is already available, Spektrum Home will reach all Czech households that receive television broadcasting through terrestrial DVB-T2 networks, making Spektrum Home one of the most broadly available and widespread television channels in the country.
In the AMCNI CNE channel offering, sports fans can look forward to live and exclusive Formula 1 broadcasts and a package of qualifications to the UEFA European Championship, with exclusive matches of the Slovak national team. Sport1 shows matches of the ice hockey Champion’s League, the European UEFA League and Conference League, the Spanish Copa del Rey cup with two El Clásicós semi-final matches (Real Madrid-Barcelona), as well as the EHF handball Champions’ League. In addition to sports, viewers can enjoy original AMC programmes such as Fear the Walking Dead, and popular movies on Film+. In the children’s portfolio, the Minimax and JimJam channels air popular cartoons such as The Boss Baby, My Little Pony and Masha and the Bear.
