CRA Expands Žižkov DC Tower to Address Insufficient Data Centre Capacity in the Czech Republic

CRA is expanding its Tower data centre in Prague's Žižkov district in response to the growing demand for data centre capacity in the Czech Republic. The company has increased the power supply by an additional 1.3 MW and will boost overall capacity by approximately 35% by autumn compared to the current state. Once completed, the new DC Tower will house more than 620 racks. CRA is investing over CZK 200 million in this expansion.

‘Demand for data centre capacity is constantly growing, and companies need greater power resources. That's why we are expanding both the capacity and power of the DC Tower. By autumn, we will have increase it by around a third’, says Miloš Mastník, CEO of CRA.

Work on the DC Tower expansion began last autumn. As part of this project, three diesel generators will be installed. The new section of the data centre, which will accommodate 171 racks, is scheduled for completion in autumn 2025.

CRA currently operates eight data centres in the Czech Republic, including sites in Žižkov, Strahov, and Cukrák in Prague, as well as in Brno, Ostrava, Pardubice, Zlín, and Lužice. With demand for data centre capacity continuing to rise, CRA has taken proactive steps to expand its infrastructure. Last spring, the company opened a new data hall at the Cukrák transmitter, acquired the Lužice data centre, and is now preparing one of the largest projects in the region: a data centre in Prague-Zbraslav. This major facility, developed in collaboration with its parent company, Cordiant Digital Infrastructure, is expected to be completed by 2027.

CRA has successfully attracted interesting clients for its data centres. Notably, the largest independent cloud gaming platform Boosteroid recently entered CRA's data centres.
